something new
I recently stumbled across a new (to me) blog
run by Jeanie of The Paper Nut.
I found quite a few cute things lurking throughout her archives...
Her brilliantly fun lettering:

mixed messages and why I am so great
How cute is {this}?
Leading question, I know.
I figure there are three basic types of people:
1. those that read {this}, giggle, and badly want kids of their own
2. those that read {this}, release a sigh of relief, and feel grateful to either
a. not have kids or b. have kids of a different age
3. those that read {this} with absolute indifference.
Can you guess which one I am?
BTW: The "I am the Best!" sign is my favorite!
It reminds me of Nietzsche (pinning me, undeniably, a college student).

kidease

So... the idea behind these little lunches is really great.
And the images are really funny and cute.
But... well... is it just me or does "kidease" sound like an insult?
Kidease...Disease...
Kidease...Cooties...
The possibilities for other kids to mercilessly make fun of the lunch goer
innocently trying to "ease" their existence with a fun bite to eat...
I don't even want to think about it.

Special Company

The last time I got to spend time with Kay and Kaleb here in the beautiful pacific northwest we took a road trip up to Canada. Kaleb still needed a car seat and we were busy prodding his words. In a few minutes I'm headed to the airport to pick them up again. I have a feeling things will be a little bit different this time around.

gift guide for (real and) imaginary children
I love reading the blog Peanut Petunia partly because it is always brimming with decorating inspiration but also because every so often it reminds me that I'm not the only one that thinks about, plans for, dreams about, and shops for my imaginary child. As much as I miss my nephews and nieces down in Texas (and boy do I), I would be absolutely broke if they lived near me. Kids books are probably a primary weakness but there are oh so many other lovely little doo-dats and whatsits for tots these days to saturate my attention.

wishes
This is happiness.
I love to give books to my nephews and nieces.
And I've developed a love of certain kids books in particular to give.
So earlier this week I got a package together for the new parents-to-be.
When I was trying to think of what to write for the message
this photo just kept popping into my head.
This is what I wish for them.
A kid running through the house with big balloons.
Smiling ear to ear, giggling like crazy along the way.
