heavy metal

I've got a thing for metal... copper, pewter, and gold in particular.
It started with paper actually.
I'm ultra obsessive lately about invitations (I have been for a while now)
and I've ordered quite a few paper samples in the name of research.
My favorite paper sample came from this wonderful site.
It is handmade Indian silk paper with raised copper dots.
The photo {found here} DOES NOT do it even the least bit of justice.
It is gorgeous. Fantastic. Amazing. Magnificent. Incredible.
I love it.
And, it made me begin to love copper. Copper everywhere.
Copper appliances, copper mailboxes, copper pots and pans.
But then, before I knew it, I was finding myself drawn more to
pewter.
I still LOVE the paper but copper appliances and cookware
are quite the hassle to keep clean.
Pewter, on the other hand, is sturdy and low maintenance.
And, I happen to think, it has a wonderful rustic charm.
Flatware, stemware, carafes...
they would all look so lovely next to a colorful pottery dish set.
But then, before I knew it, I was finding myself drawn more to
gold.
Gold, gold, gold, gold.
I've never really been big on gold before.
But now I just can't get enough of it.
Gold jewelry, gold china, gold picture frames, gold stationary...
At this point, I still love all three.
But I think I love gold the most. I mean come on.
Just look at that ring.

bhahhh!

{image found here}
I've been really loving goats lately.
Maybe it is because a few weeks ago the philosopher and I
passed a farm with baby goats for sale on our way home from the lake.
Or maybe it is because goats remind me of my friend Janell in Texas
who used to raise goats for FFA.

My mom's banker once told us that his family has a pet goat
not for profit or anything but just "for the love".
And when I was younger my sisters had two pet goats...
though I don't remember them much.

Right now, while I'm free from all the yucky duties that go along with
farm animal management, the idea of having a big back yard
with a cool tree house and a couple of pet goats
sounds really, really good.

hmm... or maybe a cow!
ps: did you catch Janell's bluebell t-shirt?
In case you don't know, bluebell has the best vanilla icecream.

This is amazing. This is so me.

Love these walls at Lilly Pulitzer!
I would like to have a big closet painted like this.
They remind me a lot of Eloise.
Did you ever read those books or see the cartoons?

do you need a coffee break?

yes.
and, if possible, please make it nerdy.

I am soo taken with this packaging!

Have I mentioned that I love the dieline?
I do. I love the dieline almost as much as I love nerds!

Pssst!

I have a little secret to share...
I love tree houses and forts.
since I'm sort of afraid of the dark
and not super fond of bugs
I haven't told many people.

but when I'm in Barnes and Noble
by myself with a frappucino in hand
I like to head over to the photography and architecture section
and look at this book and all the others like it.

I dream of someday having a house
with a big, forest-like back yard
where I can build...or, err... have built
a really cool tree house/playhouse/fort.

There is a book I've come across in B&N a few times
with the absolute coolest playhouses ever...
that perhaps I'll share someday when I remember the name.

In the meantime, feast your eyes on this outdoor paradise in Bali.
It isn't exactly a tree house. But I loovvveee it just the same.

True Love... and Consumerism Galore. Eekk!

It is sick, I know. But I am endlessly amazed and in love with Etsy.
My wishlist just grows and grows and grows.

I try to fight it. I try keep the consumerism down.
And, I'm broke yo so I usually do.

But really. truly. Is this not amazing?
Ugg. I loovveeee the cell phone case too.

I especially like it since the camera I own would fit inside it
and I haven't been able to get a holga to call my own.

Then again... this case costs more than the beauty-full holgawood herself.

Maybe part of the reason I'm so into this little case is because
it reminds me of the felt-tabulous creations by Princess Lasertron.
I've been obsessing over her pins & corsages.

It is a little silly...

{photo by me}
...but I dream of the day L and I actually have a house that actually has a table and * occasionally * I'll get to throw dinner parties and set the table.

I swear I'm no Donna Reed. But I do love dinner parties.

temptations

Neiman Marcus was kind enough to let me know that pre-fall collections are available for purchase online starting today. Of course, as much as I want a pair of these, I just don't think it is going to happen even with first-call discounts.

But they're soooo cool!

I really want one of these.

And one of these.

And maybe one of these.

Aren't these just the coolest things you've ever seen?

even though film is sooo expensive
and
even though photoshop can pretty much achieve the same effects...

I really want a toy camera.
